Free TelephonyFree TelephonyFree telephony is running rampant over the internet these days. New clients pop up or go away weekly. Some of the more reliable services are listed below. They all include free PC to PC and cheap PC to PSTN calls.

Following are some differentiating qualities;

  • SIPphone/Gizmo5 - Gizmo5 - Free video calls

If you're concerned with the quality of your VOIP experience, Brix Networks (acquired by EXFO) has a really cool app that will help. This free service is called TestYourVOIP.com and allows you to test the quality of a VOIP call made from your network. You can even choose a local or internetional test location to call. They also have TestYourIPVideo.com, to check the quality of any interactive IP video applications you might be considerating.

LeTip Weekly Showcase 2

Le Tip Mt Sinai Member of the Week

Each week I highlight another member of my Mt Sinai Le Tip chapter. This week's showcase is for Treimane Eason. Treimane is the Land Surveyor of the group. His company is T. Eason Land Surveyor PC of Port Jefferson Station with a satellite office in Queens, New York. They have over 25 years experience in survey and consulting. Projects include commercial, residental, institutional and industrial sites.

I've done computer work in Treimane's office and he's hardly ever there. He's out doing what he loves to do, surveying. I asked him how long he's been doing this and he answered "Surveying is all I've ever done". It shows in his work and his commitment to getting jobs done on a timely basis.

Google Chrome Shines

I took my first look at Googles new browser today. Chrome uses a minimalist approach, combining features where possible. One example of this is the address bar which doubles as the search box. Chromes opens to a page of visual links to your most visited sites, a nice feature.
